OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCING NEW TEAM IN KLAMATH FALLS, OR: BASIN SABER ACADEMY

We are so pleased to announce Basin Saber Academy, the newest addition to our Lightspeed Saber Family!

This team, based in Klamath Falls, Oregon, was started when a couple of friends with no fencing experience bought some Ultrasabers and decided they wanted to learn how to fence with them. They started out by learning traditional epee fencing from a local teenager, until the group switched to the Lightspeed Saber method.

Their Captain, Kevin Fournier, bought two of every piece of gear to ensure that there would always be enough equipment for them to practice and welcome new members. They’re a small group currently, ranging from teenagers and teachers to programmers and pastors. Most of the year they practice indoors, where they pup Star Wars playlists through the speakers and have fun.

No one in their current member list has any martial arts experience, so they’re all learning together which makes them a great group for newcomers.

If you’re in the area and interested in joining, find them at the United Evangelical Free Church, 3333 Beverley Way, Klamath Falls, Oregon, Saturdays 9:30am-12:00pm.

Please help us give them a warm welcome in the Discord and find them on Instagram and Facebook at BasinSaberAcademy for more information.

OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCING NEW TEAM IN IRVING, TX: STARBIRD SABER ACADEMY

We are extremely excited to officially announce our newest team: Starbird Saber Academy! They are based in Irving, Texas, and headed by the magnificent and badass duo of Kat Laurange and Russ Mitchell.

They’re a small, yet dedicated and diverse team with their youngest member being 11 years old and with most of their members cross-training in at least one other fencing method.

Currently their big goals are to train, work hard, have fun, and hopefully find some more friends to join in. Holding the mantra of "playing this game is more fun when you're REALLY GOOD at it!", they’ve got the fun-to-hard-work ratio down pat. They meet 3 times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Their addition to the Lightspeed Saber family makes Texas the second largest region for Lightspeed Saber activity across the country. We’re very excited to have them and can’t wait to see what they get up to!

If you’re in the area and interested in joining, find them at 1915 Peters Rd, Irving, TX 75061 Suite 108, 7pm-9pm. Find them on Instagram and Facebook at StarbirdSaber for more information.

And help us give them a warm welcome in the Discord, and introduce yourselves at Lightspeed Strikes Back.

RANKINGS TO DROP FOR EXPIRED MEMBERSHIPS

Starting on September 1st, 2022, Lightspeed Saber fencers will start to be dropped from the competition ladder unless they have a current, active Lightspeed Saber League membership. Any fencer is welcome to participate in competitions that they are eligible for, regardless of membership status; but without a membership they cannot hold a rank higher than Grade E. Squadron captains with a registered team are exempt.

Fencers who wish to keep their grade and position must open or renew their membership at: LightspeedSaber.com/register. If you fall off the ladder you can still renew your membership at a later date. There are still 4 months before September in which fencers can do so.

Lightspeed Saber League relies on membership support in order to put on major tournaments and events, retain our excellent staff, and pay for insurance.

Lightspeed Saber League is an open competition system, so you don’t need to be a member to compete and members of other organizations and related activities are always welcome.

ANDRE GONZALES PROMOTED TO ENRICHMENT & PROMOTIONS OFFICER

Hello, it’s Cang Snow, writing to inform you that Andre Gonzales, much storied captain of the Lone Wolves in Escondido, California, has been promoted to the position of Enrichment & Promotions Officer. As EPO, Andre will fulfill two functions: 1) the promotion of stellar and promising individuals and teams via social media, and 2) the enrichment of that social media with technical, tactical, and a strategic analysis, for the benefit of all our fans, members, and followers.

Get ready to see clips of amazing kills, dodges, blocks, and crazy moments from all over the country every week on TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram. But, Andre will need your cooperation to make this work. For that, I’ll let you read it from the man himself:

Hey everyone!

As Cang mentioned, my name is Andre, the creator and co-founder of Lone Wolf Base. A lot of you will know me as “Moose”. I am pleased and proud to take on the role of EPO! I have made quite a few videos and clips in the past, using footage from Lone Wolf Base and tournaments. It’s always fun to be able to break down plays, understand the outcomes and just appreciate the styles and moves of your fellow competitors!
With about five years of experience in the competitive lightsaber scene and almost seven years of lightsaber training experience, I have been a part of and witnessed many feats of agility, cunning and respect!

Which leads me to everyone else!
Part of my job as EPO is to highlight ALL OF YOU and your bases! I want to see your fun training sessions, your “did that just happen!?” clips, your “uh ohs” and just anything that you feel would be absolutely awesome to share with the rest of the social media community!
Want me to analyze a full fight?
Want me to react to some crazy exchange?
Just want to share a new and upcoming fencer?
Shoot me your clips, your live streams and your highlights!

How to share: Officers can refer to the Discord #Officer-and-Staff channel for my Drive link, my email to share your Drives with, or if you’re not an Officer, please feel free to reach out to me on Discord! Smaller clips can be placed in the #show-off channel.

Thank you all for your cooperation.

Get out there and show me your moves!
