The Lightspeed Saber staff is made up of a mix of employees, contractors, and volunteers, and we certainly couldn’t achieve anything without their hard work and help. Today we announce and honor two promotions, John Mullins and Sean Holtzman.

First, John Mullins has accepted the role of Acting Regional Director of Southern California. In this position, John will assist Lightspeed Saber SoCal in setting up and running tournaments, become an official member of the officer corps, and act as personnel authority for the region. In his relatively short time with us, John has proven his dedication in and outside his base of LS. Irvine, his combat acumen, and his good and affable demeanor, making him an ideal person to step into the role. Thank you for taking this on for us, John!

But, that doesn’t mean that former regional director Sean Holtzman is going anywhere. Sean has served as director of Lightspeed Saber’s critical Southern California region since 2017, planning events like 2020’s Dreamhack tournament, and running the SoCal championship in 2021, making significant contributions to our tournament staffing procedures, and just in general being a good human. However, time commitments and schedule conflicts have made fulfilling the role difficult in the past year. But rather than merely step aside for John, Sean has accepted the promotion to Senior Regional Director. The “senior” prefix is a reflection of Sean’s years of service and experience within the league. In this role, Sean will remain an important voice in our officer corps, help train and assist John, potentially fill in for John or trade off with John when needed, serve as our representative when necessary, and enact disciplinary action where appropriate. Thank you, Sean, for staying on board with Lightspeed!

We salute these men for their dedication, their passion, and their friendship. We already know they will take us far beyond Lightspeed.

Cang Snow
Chief Executive Officer

(Note: By default, the position of acting director will last for one year, but can be renewed for more terms in the future.)
